Исследование Т.И.

Robert Rauschenberg: Gluts

Trisha Brown, Mimi Thompson, Robert Rauschenberg

Robert Rauschenberg: Gluts Trisha Brown, Mimi Thompson, Robert Rauschenberg In the mid-1980s, Robert Rauschenberg's creative attentions turned toward the visual and plastic properties of junk metal when he began to assemble found metal objects and screenprint his photographic images onto aluminum, bronze, brass and copper. His first body of work in this vein was Gluts, a series begun in 1986 and continued intermittently until 1995, in which ornate metalwork seemingly derived from a bedpost might attach to a slice of mesh wire, or twisted petals of yellow metal might sprout from the remains of an eviscerated toaster. Asked to comment on his novel use of the word In the mid-1980s, Robert Rauschenberg's creative attentions turned toward the visual and plastic properties of junk metal when he began to assemble found metal objects and screenprint his photographic images onto aluminum, bronze, brass and copper. Asked to comment on his novel use of the word "gluts," Rauschenberg said, "It's a time of glut. Greed is rampant... I simply want to present people with their ruins... I think of the Gluts as souvenirs without nostalgia." Published to accompany the Peggy Guggenheim Collection's exhibition Robert Rauschenberg: Gluts (the first show to focus on Rauschenberg's sculpture since 1995), this fully illustrated catalogue features a selection of......

Icelandic Art Today

Halldor Bjorn Runolfsson, Hafgor Yngvason

Icelandic Art Today Halldor Bjorn Runolfsson, Hafgor Yngvason Icelandic culture is so strongly oriented towards language that the visual arts didn't truly begin to develop until the early twentieth century--which is remarkable for a Western country. This unique situation may explain the nature of the contemporary art scene in Iceland. Even though Conceptual art remains a considerable international influence, and globalization is most certainly affecting this isolated island in the North Atlantic, Icelandic art continues to develop at its own speed, marked by a playful creative energy and the pleasure of experimentation. Icelandic Art Today introduces 50 of the country's most important artists--including Finnbogi Petursson, Gabriela Fridriksdottir, Helgi Thorgils Fridjonsson, Icelandic Love Corporation, Katrin Sigurdardottir, Margret H. Blondal, Olafur Olafsson + Libia Castro, Ragnar Kjartansson and Ruri and Steingrimur Eyfjord--who have contributed to the contemporary landscape of Icelandic art from the 1970s through the present. More Than a Wheelchair, More Than HIV: Overcoming PML

Ron Kudrako

More Than a Wheelchair, More Than HIV: Overcoming PML Ron Kudrako What if you were told that you might possibly spend the rest of your life in a wheelchair? Oh, and you are HIV positive too! And, only a few seemed to care? More Than a Wheelchair; More than HIV is a story, my story, of survival of AIDS in the years after 2000 and having to cope with the challenges it presented me. It is so disturbing and disheartening to see the growing indifference toward HIV and to have a younger generation oblivious and unconcerned by its possible resurgence as a life-altering moment in their carefree lives. I was told that I was going to die numerous times in November 1999, but I astounded them first by recovering and then with my determination and use of imagination in my therapies and exercises hoping to regain what I had lost at the beginning of my bout with PML (Progressive Multifocal Leucoencephalopathy). I usually explain PML as like having a stroke. It is the simplest explanation. The PML had taken so much from me which... книги, книжный магазин, интернет-магазин What if you were told that you might possibly spend the rest of your life in a wheelchair? Bob Dylan: The Illustrated Biography (Classic Rare & Unseen)

Chris Rushby

Bob Dylan: The Illustrated Biography (Classic Rare & Unseen) Chris Rushby The images and text in this book chronicle the public life of a unique talent. Bob Dylan has written some of the most memorable popular songs of the twentieth century, as well as being a charismatic performer and cultural influence on succeeding generations of audiences and artists. Yet Dylan remains an enigma: a shy, retiring man who hardly speaks to audiences, yet now hosts a weekly radio show; a performer who, in his own words, is 'mortified' to go out on stage, yet continues a punishing tour schedule as he heads towards his seventh decade because he believes it's what he was born to do. Bob Dylan was born Robert Allen Zimmerman on 24th May 1941 in Duluth Minnesota. His early years were spent in a conventional and middle class Jewish household. In his teens, Dylan began to play and sing in local bands and when he left school his main ambition, as recorded in his high school yearbook was 'to join Little Richard.' But it was folk, not rock 'n' roll, which gave the young Dylan his... книги, книжный магазин, интернет-магазин The images and text in this book chronicle the public life of a unique talent.
